Health & Anatomy,Part 2: In this middle school health/anatomy class we will go over the amazing way that God designed our bodies and how they work. We will discuss how to take care of our bodies with the foods that we choose and the behaviors that we choose and choose not to engage in. Students will also learn basic CPR and First Aid skills.

Beginning Dissections: This Dissection class is an Introduction Class. It should be taken by students who have never performed dissections before. We will dissect 5 specimens at the minimum. We may venture out a little more if the students are ready. I will cover safety in the lab, how to classify animals, and the proper technique used in the lab to study the internal anatomy of a “once” living organism. Let’s Do It.

Introduction to Spanish: We will be creating interactive notebooks as we explore the basics of the Spanish language. Please note that there will be a lot of cutting, gluing, coloring, and decorating of our notebooks in this class!

Cooking Around the World: Students will enjoy cooking dishes from different countries or just unique dishes. We will also discuss common foods or cooking practices that are used around the world. There will be some home cooking assignments that I will not provide ingredients. Also please provide your student with a notebook for the recipes that we will use in this class. Bon appetit.

Missions: In this class, we will explore the need for missions, become comfortable sharing the gospel, study current and historical missionaries, and participate in local missions. This class will prepare students to be on mission wherever God plants them.

Art Lab: Art Lab encourages kids to be fearless in seeking and nurturing their creativity. The activities in this class will be adaptable to learners of all levels and are highly creative and challenging while balancing the artistic process with the potential for a meaningful product. Fine art projects are set into weekly lessons, beginning with drawing and moving through painting and printmaking. We will then work our way to paper collage and mixed media. Each lesson features and relates to the work and style of a contemporary artist. Each week students will need to bring a large shirt/smock that they can wear over their clothes. They will need to provide a clean, plain white t-shirt during the semester that will be used for silk-screening.

Discovering Georgia: Explore the uniqueness of our state from the historical to the odd. This class will look at many different places, events, and way of life that makes our state unique. We will talk about state historic sites, the state parks and what they offer, as well as towns and places that make our state special. There will be some local field trips offered for this class which might involve hiking and exploring. These field trips will involve fees that are not covered by the class fee.

Crochet: Learn the basics of crochet including the chain stitch, single crochet, double crochet and more. We will learn a bit about the history of crochet as well as types of yarn, hooks, and how to read patterns. The goal will be to complete several small basic projects.
